The Job:
GMSTEK is looking for a hands-on Vice President of Finance to lead our finance and accounting function as we enter the next stage of growth. We are looking for someone that enjoys being part of the business.
This role is about building financial discipline, improving visibility into the business, and becoming a trusted part of the leadership team as we continue to scale. You’ll own the core accounting and reporting functions while helping guide the company through acquisitions, multi-entity consolidation, and investor financial reporting.
We are looking for a mix of financial acumen and strategic thinking. GMSTEK is building a platform that connects aviation operations, property, payments, and data into a single operating system for airports and FBOs. The VP of Finance will work closely with the CEO and leadership team on pricing, acquisitions, integration planning, KPI design, and long-term capital strategy.
Success in this role looks like clean closes, clear financial visibility, disciplined execution during acquisitions, and metrics that help leadership understand where the business is performing and where it needs to improve.
We are looking for someone who can roll up their sleeves, bring structure where it’s needed, and help build the financial backbone of a fast-growing technology company. This role is best suited for someone who enjoys designing and building systems and processes, not just maintaining/following them
Location
This is a hybrid role based in Daytona Beach, with periodic travel to our Miami headquarters and other sites as needed.
Why This Role
This role sits at the center of decision-making as GMSTEK scales. You’ll help bring clarity to complex operations, support growth initiatives, and ensure the team has timely, accurate insight into how the business is performing.
For the right candidate, this is a chance to step into a visible, high-trust role and help shape the financial foundation of a fast-growing aviation technology platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Accuracy
- Lead and streamline the monthly close process, targeting a consistent 10-day cycle.
- Prepare accurate, timely financial statements, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports.
- Reconcile key accounts: cash, AR/AP, payroll, and intercompany.
- Build dashboards and reporting tools that provide leadership with clear, actionable insights.
- Define and track metrics and KPIs that measure business performance in real time.
- Process & Controls
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Identify and eliminate manual reconciliation work through automation and process improvement.
- Partner with the Business Intelligence team to align operational and financial reporting across systems.
- Operational Partnership
- Collaborate with operations and department heads to analyze costs, margins, and performance by product, customer, and location.
- Investigate variances and anomalies in real time and provide insight, not just data.
- Support strategic initiatives, pricing models, and expansion planning with scenario-based forecasting.
- Scalability & Growth Readiness
- Prepare for and manage multi-entity consolidation, including upcoming acquisitions.
- Evaluate current tools and workflows, identify and lead the implementation of scalable systems (e.g., ERP).
- Support due diligence, financial integration, and ongoing reporting for acquired businesses.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or MBA preferred.
- 6 to 9 years of progressive finance and accounting experience with time as Controller or Finance Director.
- Deep understanding of GAAP, SaaS/hardware revenue recognition, and multi-entity financial structures.
- Experience in a SaaS, recurring revenue, or tech-enabled services environment is preferred.
- Experience in PE-backed, investor-facing, or acquisitive companies is a plus.
- Proficiency with accounting systems, reporting tools, and Excel/Power BI-level analysis.
What We are Looking For:
- Brings rigor from high-performing finance teams, but adaptable to a fast-paced growth-stage environment.
- Operationally curious - you want to understand what drives the numbers, not just report them.
- Confident communicator - you can turn financial results into clear, strategic insights for leadership.
- Detail-oriented and hands-on - you’ll own the day-to-day while building toward scale.
- Comfortable with ambiguity - you bring structure, but you don’t need it to thrive.
First 90 Days Success Metrics:
- First 30 Days: Stabilization
- Take ownership of the monthly close process and deliver a full financial package with documented reconciliations.
- Identify process gaps and propose a remediation plan.
- Deliver a finance integration plan for current acquisitions with milestones and dependency map
- First 90 Days: Accuracy & Controls
- Implement a standardized 10-day close calendar and resolve recurring errors (e.g., labor allocation, AR/AP mismatches).
- Implement the financial integration plan across acquired entities.
- Establish and document internal controls and accounting policies.
- First 6 Months: Business Partnership & Scalability
- Provide product line and location-level P&L visibility.
- Launch self-service reporting dashboards for leadership with key KPIs.
- Align reporting with the Business Intelligence team for a single, trusted data source.
- Deliver actionable financial insights, not just reports, to the CEO and leadership team.
- Milestones through Month 12
- Multi-entity consolidation live with purchase accounting for closed deals.
- ERP and data flow improvements that remove manual reconciliations and reduce days to close.
- Pricing and unit economics playbook for Software, Real Estate, IoT, and X-1PAY.
- Monthly investor-ready KPI pack with progress against ARR growth, ARPC, margin expansion, tech consolidation, and NRR targets.
- Cash plan aligned to integration and GTM ramp with variance tracking and leading indicators.
Compensation & Reporting:
- Competitive base salary in the range of $140,000 – $170,000, plus performance-based bonus and equity opportunities.
- Reports directly to the CEO and plays a key role in strategic leadership discussions.
- Significant opportunity for career growth as the company scales through acquisitions and growth milestones.
- Hybrid role based in Daytona Beach, with travel to Miami HQ and other sites as needed.
